⇒ Takahē Suite | Luxury guest suite

Fiordland Eco-Retreat’s Takahē Suite can either be:

A three bedroom configuration for bookings of up to five guests, plus infants under the age of two. Infants stay free of charge and do not need to be included in the guest count.
A one-bedroom suite, accommodating up to two guests.

Takahē Suite 3-Bedroom

Approx. 110m² / 1200 sq ft internal space
Up to 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
1.5 bathrooms

Takahē Suite 1-Bedroom

Approx. 50m² / 540 sq ft internal space
Up to 2 guests in 1 bedroom
1 bathroom

No matter which size suite you book, the Takahē Suite will contain the following:

Kitchenette
Separate cosy lounge
Stunning 260° panoramic lake and mountain views
Central heating to keep you warm, even in the depths of winter.
Free, unlimited WIFI
Private hot tub (spa pool) and heated outdoor shower
Large, private BBQ and outside dining area
Large, flat front lawn
Freeview TV (NZ’s standard channels) and Netflix
Comfortable bed(s) with quality linen
Black-out blinds / curtains in bedroom(s).
The 3-bedroom configuration also includes two extra bedrooms and a separate toilet.

Our new luxury 60m² self-catering detached accommodation villa, The Lookout, is scheduled to open during our Summer 2026/27 season; it is available to book from January 2027, and will accommodate up to two adults. It will have the same stunning panoramic lake and mountain outlook as our existing Takahē Suite.

Minimum stay requirements: We usually have a 2-night minimum stay, but require a 3-night minimum stay over the 4-weeks from mid-December until mid-January. If our booking calendar shows shorter availability gaps, these should be bookable via our booking system.

Overwhelmingly beautiful,peacefull. From the moment of arrival, Host care/comfort for the guests was obvious, from the complimentary nibbles and refreshments, to the design concepts of the accomodation, that maximised the setting and stayed true to being eco. Everything about this place is fantastic - the views, the beds (so comfortable!), the layout, the cleanliness and the thoughtful touches throughout like milk, cereal and coffee to get us started for breakfast as well as plentiful bath towels. The owner was gracious and generous but also gave us our privacy. It really felt like we were staying in our own, private, 5-star resort. On top of everything, we were treated to an amazing Southern Lights show in the night sky! Truly a memorable stay and the highlight of a 2 1/2 week tour around Australia and New Zealand. Side note, be sure to make the trip to Milford Sound for a boat tour while you’re here - it was absolutely stunning.

The accommodation includes everything you need to feel comfortable during your stay such as cooking/coffee equipment, extra blankets/ towels, coolers, and breakfast essentials to get you started, and is a quick 5 minute drive to downtown. Most of all, the views are spectacular and truly one of the most amazing I've seen in my years of traveling. Nights in the hot tub as the sun sets, coffee in the morning on the deck, and visits from the pups will forever be unforgettable. I can't thank Susanna enough for sharing her poperty with us!

The house is conveniently located close to town and fairly close to Lake Manapouri, but just far enough away to have peaceful surroundings.  Susanna is a wonderful host.  She responded quickly to our questions and was helpful and friendly.  I would highly recommend this home if you are staying in Te Anau.

A small but well equipped kitchen, 2 comfortable and stylish bedrooms and an excellent bathroom, a deep tub by the window and a powerful shower. The outdoor hot tub is very good, soaking the days aches away whilst star gazing, what could be better? On top of that the house is scrupulously clean and there are even 2 powerful pairs of binoculars available to spot those shooting stars … Highly Recommend

It is perfectly situated just outside of town so you see the most spectacular views of the town, lake, and the landscape. I can’t speak highly enough of the sweet family that hosted us. They are truly wonderful and I even elected to plant our tree with sweet Harrison before we left. Way to teach them the value of kindness and giving back to the earth!  Verified This was place was amazing. We used it as a base for exploring the fjordlands in the winter. Susanna was super helpful with discussing options given the weather. She met us on check in with fresh milk. The house is gorgeous. All of the amenities were top notch. The coffee machine, the kitchen, the main bathroom was amazing. We needed up cooking in since the outdoor grill and views were so nice. The highlight was the private outdoor hot tub overlooking the snow capped mountains. After long days exploring this was the perfect end to the days. We can’t recommend this place more. It’s super close to town and so peaceful.
