Guests’ safety and well-being is extremely important to us. We have stringent health and safety policies in place, which we actively adhere to, but as with any travel and accommodation experience, there will always be certain risks involved.
Please take a moment to read and acknowledge the following Risk Disclosure Statement before finalising your reservation and / or staying with us.
Property Risks
While we strive to maintain a safe environment, accidents and unforeseen incidents may still occur. These could include slips, falls, property damage, or equipment malfunctions. We encourage guests to exercise caution and follow all posted safety guidelines while on the premises.
Natural Disasters & Weather Conditions
Natural events, such as earthquakes, storms, or floods may occur without warning. Although the property is designed to withstand such events, some risks remain. We recommend that guests familiarise themselves with emergency exits and evacuation procedures, which can be found in the Guest Information folder, and on the wall of the Kitchenette.
Fire Safety
Our fire safety protocols include smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher, located in the kitchenette’s pantry. Nevertheless, fire can still pose a risk. Guests are urged to be cautious when using cooking / heating appliances and to only smoke outside. Cigarette butts must be extinguished thoroughly. The use of candles is not permitted on the premises.
Recreational Activities & Amenities
Engaging in recreational activities or using amenities such as the hot tub will come with inherent risks. Guests are advised to use all equipment responsibly and within their personal limits. Misuse of equipment can lead to serious injury or even death. Please ensure that the instructions for use of the hot tub are read upon your arrival at the accommodation.
During stargazing tours, you must listen to your guide’s instructions. We actively monitor and minimise any potential hazards, but please be aware, that when this activity takes place it is cold and dark; you must take responsibility for your own safety, and wear adequate warm clothing.
We only recommend activity providers whose health and safety policies we have sighted, and deemed to be acceptable. We cannot, however, take any responsibility for incidents that occur while you are engaging with these third-party providers.
Medical Emergencies
In the event of a medical emergency, we will assist in contacting emergency services and providing first aid wherever possible. For emergencies (ambulance, police, fire), please call Emergency Services on 111.
Our location is 111 Ramparts Road, Te Anau.
If you are at the accommodation when a heart attack is thought to be occurring, aspirin can be found in the accommodation’s first aid kit.
Current medical advice is to crush up 1-2 aspirin capsules (300mg) and place them under the heart attack victim’s tongue, to help prevent platelets from forming blood clots. Alternatively, 1-2 aspirin capsules may be chewed then swallowed. This is believed to buy some time before the arrival of medical assistance / an AED. Do not take aspirin if a known allergy exists.
The closest AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) is located in the Te Anau township. You can see all AED locations at https://aedlocations.co.nz.
We advise downloading the AED location app in advance of your arrival:
Click here to download it on Apple devices.
Click here to download it on Android devices.
Security & Personal Belongings
We provide security measures to safeguard your belongings, but we are not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to personal items. Guests are advised to lock doors and report any suspicious activity to the accommodation’s owners, who live In the main house.
